Since around early September 2026, businesses in Hungary can also advertise in ChatGPT. It is a new platform with little local experience so far, so it is not the right place to start for every company. We explain who we recommend it for and who we don’t. If it suits you, we build and manage the campaign for you.
Updated: · based on version 1.6 of the OpenAI ad policy
Below the answer, labelled “Sponsored”
A ChatGPT ad is an offer labelled “Sponsored” that appears below ChatGPT’s answer when the topic of the conversation matches it.
The ad shows the company’s name and icon, a headline of up to 50 characters, a 100-character description, an image and the landing page. Webshops can also advertise from a product feed, in which case the price and the rating are shown too.
According to OpenAI, ads do not influence what ChatGPT answers, and advertisers cannot see the conversations. ChatGPT ad management is the work behind each placement: tracking, campaign structure, copy, images, bidding, optimisation and reporting.
| Google search ad | ChatGPT ad | |
|---|---|---|
| What triggers it | A keyword | The topic of the conversation |
| Where | At the top of the search results | Below the answer, kept separate |
| Who sees it | Almost everyone who searches | Free and Go users aged 18 and over |
| Targeting in the EU | Keywords, audiences, remarketing | At launch only the current conversation, location, device and language |
| Payment | Clicks or impressions | CPM, CPC or conversion-optimised CPC (oCPC) |
| Experience in Hungary | Years of data | No reliable benchmark yet |
It comes down to two things: whether OpenAI allows your line of business, and whether your customers ask ChatGPT before they decide. Click your industry for details.
Electronics, home appliances, furniture, sports equipment: for these, people really do ask which one to buy. From a product feed, the ad appears with the price and rating.
A supported category under the policy (“travel and experiences”), and many people already plan their trips with ChatGPT. That is exactly when accommodation and activities come up.
Longer consideration and lots of comparison questions (“which English course is good for an adult beginner”). Digital products and education are among the supported categories.
Questions like “which invoicing software should I choose” are common here. It can work mainly for products aimed at small businesses and individual decision-makers (see B2B below).
Renovation, removals, car servicing, cleaning: local services are a supported category. Targeting can be narrowed to areas smaller than a country where the system supports it.
Business and Enterprise plan users don’t see ads, so some corporate decision-makers are out of reach.
Instead or alongside: Google Ads, LinkedIn.
A quick, visual decision that people rarely ask advice on. It can be tried with a small budget alongside existing campaigns.
Instead or alongside: Meta, TikTok.
With a low basket value, ChatGPT’s click prices are still considered high today.
Instead or alongside: setting up a Google Business Profile, Google Ads, Meta ads, TikTok ads with relevant video content.
Products also sold by major retailers can be advertised without health claims. Not with promises (“detoxes”, “helps you lose weight”), and no ads appear next to conversations about personal health.
Private clinics, dentists, therapy. A restricted category: OpenAI only approves licensed advertisers, reviewed manually case by case, and is opening it up gradually. According to the detailed part of the policy, outside the United States this is generally not allowed for now. No ads appear next to conversations about personal or mental health at all.
Instead: Google Ads and SEO.
Loans, insurance, investments, law firms. Restricted in the same way: manual, case-by-case approval for licensed advertisers. According to the detailed rules, outside the United States financial services are generally prohibited for now, and legal services are currently prohibited altogether.
Instead: Google search ads, SEO.
Prohibited category. For alcohol the limit is 0.5% ABV, and products containing THC are prohibited too.
Prohibited category, and no ads at all appear next to conversations about politics.
The policy does not allow ads for a specific property or job.
Source: OpenAI ad policy, version 1.6 (updated 10 September 2026). OpenAI is opening up healthcare, financial and legal services gradually, with case-by-case approval. Today this applies to the United States, not yet to Europe. The rules may change, so we always check them again before launch.
Five questions our clients always ask at the start, and the five steps we answer them with.
Can I advertise in ChatGPT at all?
We check whether your category is allowed and whether the landing page also complies with the policy (a food delivery ad, for example, cannot lead to alcohol delivery). We check that OpenAI’s crawler can reach the landing page and that purchases or quote requests can be tracked. If anything gets stuck, we tell you before launch.
How will I know if it brought in customers?
OpenAI measurement pixel and server-side Conversions API with a shared event ID, so nothing is counted twice. With UTM parameters the traffic also shows up in GA4.
Which questions should I appear for?
We collect the questions your customers ask before they decide, and build the campaigns, ad copy and images around them. For webshops we also tidy up the product feed.
How much am I risking at the start?
We start with the minimum daily budget of EUR 15 and click-based bidding. Once enough conversions come in, we switch to conversion-optimised bidding.
And what if it doesn’t work for me?
We go through the numbers and make a recommendation: scale up, restructure or stop. If ChatGPT doesn’t deliver for you what Google or Meta does, we say so.
Shall we get started?
You pay two separate items. The ad spend goes directly to OpenAI from your own ad account, and the management fee is the price of our work.
Amountdepends on the number of campaigns
MinimumEUR 15 a day
There is no Hungarian benchmark yet, so nobody can promise an exact click price or return in advance. The management fee depends on the number of campaigns and on whether we already manage other platforms for you.
Thank you for your work! I check the account and the results every few days, and the campaigns you launched are performing really well. Special congratulations on bringing in leads much more cheaply than the other campaigns, and we still got 300+ conversions in 3 weeks :)
They really deliver what they promise, they're proactive, and we were able to make real progress. I recommend them to anyone looking for a conscientious marketing team.
A fair, honest team. Finally there's no empty promising followed by broken promises; instead we keep shaping the direction of the ads together. They also help develop the value proposition. I recommend them wholeheartedly!
Yes. Since around early September 2026, businesses in several EU countries, including Hungary, can advertise in ChatGPT. Campaigns are launched in OpenAI’s self-serve Ads Manager, which is still labelled beta. You can advertise as a company registered in Hungary.
Users aged 18 and over on the Free and Go plans. Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise and Edu subscribers don’t see ads, and there are no ads in temporary chats either. No ads appear next to conversations about health, mental health or politics.
According to OpenAI, no. The ad appears below the answer, labelled “Sponsored” and kept separate, and the advertiser cannot see the conversations.
If you want ChatGPT to recommend you on its own, that is the job of search engine optimisation and AI visibility, ads don’t change this.
You pay the ad spend to OpenAI per thousand impressions (CPM), per click (CPC) or per conversion-optimised click (oCPC). OpenAI recommends a starting bid of USD 3-5 per click. There is no Hungarian benchmark yet.
The minimum daily budget is EUR 15, which is EUR 450 a month, roughly HUF 160,000-170,000 of ad spend depending on the exchange rate. This does not include the management fee, which you pay to us separately and which depends on several factors.
The OpenAI ad policy (version 1.6, 10 September 2026) prohibits alcohol and drugs, tobacco and vaping, gambling, political content, dating and adult content, and individual property and job listings. The rule applies to the landing page too.
Healthcare, financial and legal services are restricted categories: OpenAI is opening them up gradually for licensed advertisers, with manual, case-by-case approval. According to the detailed part of the policy, this applies to the United States today, and in Europe these services generally cannot be advertised for now.
In the EEA and Switzerland there are no personalised ads at launch. The system decides based on the topic of the current conversation, approximate location, device (iOS, Android, web) and language, and does not use previous conversations or memory. You can include or exclude your own audience lists.
By the first monthly report you can already see whether you are getting clicks and conversions at an acceptable price. A return takes longer than that. For PPC campaigns we recommend at least 6-12 months, and a new platform is no different.
Tell us what your business does and where you advertise now. We get back to you within 24-48 hours on working days, and if ChatGPT isn’t right for you, we’ll tell you that too.
Your request is answered by Réka and Lea, the two co-founders.
