The effectiveness of search engine optimisation (SEO) is often met with scepticism, yet with the right strategy and effective execution it can deliver impressive results. For Critical Path Management Kft. (https://cp-m.net/), we started SEO work on the keyword „generáltervezés” (general design) back in December 2024, and by May and June 2025 we had achieved very impressive results. This specific example shows clearly how a website can climb from a very low 82nd place in Google search all the way to the first page, even without Google Ads.

The starting point: December 2024, 82nd place
When we started the search engine optimisation, the company's website ranked 82nd in Google's results for the keyword „generáltervezés” (general design). In practice this meant invisibility: there were hardly any clicks, no meaningful impressions and no organic interest. The goal was to get Google's search engine to rank our client as high as possible for „generáltervezés”.
Building the strategy: technical SEO, the right content, link building
The work rested on three main pillars:
- Creating a targeted subpage: We created (and wrote, with SEO considerations
in mind) a search-friendly landing page with the keyword in its URL, whose structure and content were built specifically around the keyword „generáltervezés”. The copy was SEO-optimised: proper use of H1 and H2 tags, keyword density, meta description, internal links, etc. Here is the landing page: https://cp-m.net/generaltervezes/
- Creating a targeted subpage: We created (and wrote, with SEO considerations
- Blog strategy: During this period we wrote at least 24 relevant blog posts for the site, supporting the main keyword's ranking with their content. These posts also brought new, valuable keywords to the website, strengthening its topical authority.
- Link building: Over six months we placed backlinks on more than 40 high-quality external websites with relevant topics, building what is called a „link profile”. These sent valuable signals to Google's „robots”, reinforcing the credibility, importance and expertise of CPM's site on the topic.
IMPORTANT: We are not talking about links from free link farms, but about websites with a decent DA (Domain Authority).
SEO basics, simply explained for non-specialists (here we focused on making the essentials clear to everyone, not on technical precision)
Search engine optimisation (SEO): A set of methods that help a website appear higher in Google's search results.
Keyword: The word or phrase users type into Google. We optimise websites so that they appear for these words.
Meta description: A short text that Google shows under the page title in the search results. It doesn't directly affect rankings, but it does influence whether people click on the page.
Internal link: A link that points to another subpage within the same website. It helps Google understand the site's structure.
Technical SEO: We optimise the site's background processes (for example speed, mobile-friendliness, sitemap) so that search engine robots can easily crawl and index the website.
Organic traffic: Visitors who reached the site from Google's search results, not from paid ads.
Link building: Earning links from external websites that point to our site. The more high-quality sites link to us, the more valuable Google considers our site.
Link farm: A link farm is a group of websites created solely to manipulate search engine rankings with links pointing to each other. These low-quality, often irrelevant links don't help and can even damage a website's credibility. Google's algorithms are getting better at recognising link farms and can penalise sites that use such artificial methods.
Domain Authority (DA): Domain Authority (DA) is a score from 0 to 100 that shows how authoritative and credible Google and other search engines consider a website. The higher the value, the better the chance that the site ranks well in search results. DA is influenced by, among other things, the quality and number of incoming links, the relevance of the content and the state of technical SEO.
The result speaks for itself: from 82nd to 6th to 9th place for the focus keyword
By the end of the 6th to 7th month after the SEO work began, CPM reached an average position of 9.3 for „generáltervezés”, and in the last 28 days it ranked 6th in Google's organic results. Below the ads, the page appeared as the 2nd organic result the page appeared: https://cp-m.net/generaltervezes/ , which significantly increased visibility and the number of impressions.
According to Google Search Console, the keyword generated 521 impressions in the last 6 months, compared with only 20 in the previous 6 months. That is a 2500% increase, while the average position improved from 82 to 9.3.

Lessons learnt
- A General design (generáltervezés) as a keyword is a relatively narrow but valuable market niche, where search engine optimisation works effectively and shows impressive results within just six months.
- A Systematic content building (blogging) or link building used together can radically improve rankings, even for a keyword with relatively few searches.
- Search engine optimisation is not a quick fix, but it delivers sustainable, long-term growth if the work is really done with the right strategy. Six months is actually not a long time in SEO terms; in this segment it can rather be called a „quick success”.
- How long does it take for SEO to pay off?
On average, results this impressive can be expected in SEO within 1 to 1.5 years, but of course this depends on many factors, such as the number and quality of external links, the number and quality of blog posts, and how well the landing page is set up for SEO. It also depends on how competitive the market is in the given industry and for the given keywords.
In a niche market, results like those in this case study can be achieved within 6 months, but in a very saturated market it may easily take 1 to 2 years, or even longer.

Summary
The CPM case is a perfect example that search engine optimisation is not magic but precise, consistent and persistent work that sooner or later bears fruit. Jumping from 82nd to 6th place doesn't happen by chance: it is the result of deliberately and professionally building content, technical foundations and a link profile. * We state in this case study that our client reached 6th to 9th place, rather than giving a single exact ranking, because Google's search results are dynamic by nature. Rankings depend on several factors, for example:
- the user's search history,
- the location of the search,
- the exact moment of the search,
- current algorithm updates.
Even on the same day, for the same keyword, we may see slightly different positions. So „6th to 9th place” is not an imprecise figure but a precisely documented and transparent rangethat reflects reality: the page consistently appears on Google's first page, firmly in the organic top 10.
